The Two Senior Officers Moments Before the Aggressor Got Stunned

One senior officer who jumped to the help of a fellow officer that was assaulted by a blade-wielder was granted the King's Commendation for Courage.

Sergeant Tim Ansell fought with 27-yr-old Jacob Brown after he pressed a weapon to the throat of his colleague Sgt Marc Foster.

Brown initiated the assault as the law enforcement personnel and their third officer, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were conversing to a driver subsequent to a vehicle incident in Whalley Range in July 2023.

Brown attacked with blade both Sgt Ansell and Sgt Foster before PC Wolstencroft stunned him with a Taser.

"Officer knifed," PC Wolstencroft was heard to say over his radio.

Officer-mounted and dashcam video shared by the force revealed Brown, wearing in black with a hood up, rush to Sgt Foster from behind with a knife outstretched.

He ran into the policeman who tripped and went down to the ground, after which Sgt Ansell jumped in and struggled to restrain him to the floor even though being repeatedly struck with the knife.

PC Wolstencroft Stopped the Attacker, Jacob Brown, with a Taser

Police Constable Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and waited for a clear shot, ending the confrontation to an finish.

Sergeant Ansell can be heard to say: "Can I get help on my throat here, I'm bleeding in the throat."

Sgt Ansell received multiple deep cuts to his throat and further injuries to his limbs and body, whereas Sergeant Foster received knife wounds.

The department reported Sgt Foster utilized his palms to control his partner's hemorrhaging prior to medical personnel arrived.

This most recent award arrives subsequent to the trio of policemen were granted internal Bravery Awards in fall 2023 and the John Egerton Bravery Award from the local Police Federation in spring 2024.

They further earned a Regional Valor Recognition in July 2024.

"The actions of all three officers in the end rescued each other and resulted in no members of the public experienced any wounds."

Brown was given to an indefinite hospital order in April 2024, according to authorities.
