French authorities will start intercepting migrant vessels in English Channel following British demands

French officials have consented to begin stopping small boats in the English Channel, following months of pressure from the UK.

The change in policy follows the British leader wrote to the President asking him to back the plan and stating there presently "have no effective deterrent" in the maritime passage.

French security forces have been authorized to stop the small boats at sea, but exclusively prior to they've picked up their passengers, according to authoritative confirmation.

French authorities have infrequently acted to prevent the overcrowded boats departing from the coastline because it is viewed as excessively high a danger to both personnel and individuals.

"It is crucial that we implement these methods this month... We have no effective deterrent in the Channel."

Currently, a French maritime police representative states officers will start taking action at sea, with the objective of safeguarding human life.

Notably, the official excluded the use of nets to stop boats, which had previously been reported as a potential method to snarl the propellers of the vessels.

The decision to intervene at all is a significant step forward, coming after a short-lived change towards a more aggressive approach this warmer season, which dropped off when the former government official left office.

This was demonstrated in July, preceding a meeting between the UK leader and French president, when authorities were witnessed walking into the sea to slash the sides of a boat.

Currently French authorities will once more be allowed to intercept boats prior to they collect asylum-seeking passengers from the coastal areas of northern France, however it's uncertain how the vessels will be prevented.
