Mario's Galactic Adventure Preview Arrives, Unveiling Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors

Nintendo alongside Illumination unveiled the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. This occurred during a special Nintendo Direct that focused exclusively on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.

The follow-up to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will transport Mario to the outer limits of the universe. Along the way, he discovers a new princess and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.

A Space-Faring Quest Based on Classic Games

Much like the Wii-era games that act as its source material, Mario will venture away from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. Throughout his extensive trek, he will encounter once more some well-known personalities, such as the Luma, a popular character from the first movie.

But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who seemingly wields metal-based powers. Interestingly, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also includes nods to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Star-Studded Voice Cast Returns and Expands

The feature will feature once again of the original voice cast, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. It was announced by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.

Mario's Major Moment

The upcoming Mario film is set to release close to the 40-year celebration of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Beyond the film, 2026 promises to be a major period for Mario and his friends.

Nintendo has a trio of new releases publicly declared for that year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
